festival of fun for the family

Galway Hooker Sailing Club in association with Galway Bay Boat Tours and Galway Bay Seafoods are delighted to invite you to the inaugural Galway Docklands Festival.

The Galway Docklands Festival will take place on 21st, 22nd and 23rd of October in the Docks and Claddagh areas of Galway city. Over the 3 days we will be showcasing Galway’s Docklands and celebrating our waterways. The area’s include the harbour, the commercial Docks, Claddagh and along the seashore.

all funds raised will be donated to
Galway RNLI and LAST (Lost At Sea Tragedies).

Fun day for all

The festival will highlight Galway’s seafood and local beers, introduce you to the city’s iconic Galway Hooker sailing boats and our maritime history, as well as lots of family fun and activities. Get to meet the boat builders, sample seafood, take a guided walk around the Docklands, hop on board a boat for a spin through Claddagh and out Galway Bay and let the teenagers experience driving a motorboat (while supervised). The festival will have something for everyone. There will be plenty of sea themed activities, art competitions, crafts and entertainment for all the family to enjoy. Get to meet our crews, local Sea School students and the Port of Galway Sea Scouts. Over a coffee morning local speakers will talk on Galway’s maritime heritage and we will finish the festival evenings with rigging demonstrations of the Galway Hookers and a Parade of Sail which is always a joy to see on Galway’s waterways.

Support US

As it’s our first event of this magnitude, we’re looking for help with funding and support from Galway’s local businesses. We already have received some funding from Galway City Council and have the support of Galway Bay Boat Tours who will be providing their boats and services and Galway Bay Seafoods who will be providing us with use of their space at the Docks. We appreciate all contributions and would be delighted to have as many local businesses as possible included in the festival.

Rnli & LAST

In recognition of all the amazing work they do, we will also be fundraising for Galway RNLI and LAST (Lost At Sea Tragedies). All monies raised will be donated to them.

RNLI

Established in 1997 due to an increasing number of search and rescue incidents, Galway Lifeboat Station lies at the mouth of the River Corrib. The station houses a B class Atlantic 85 lifeboat.
